MBI investigates officer-involved shooting in Jackson
Sept. 8, 2024 – The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer involved shooting involving the Jackson Police Department that occurred on Sept. 8.
Officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a call for service near Jamestown Way in Jackson, Mississippi. Upon arrival, an officer was walking towards the scene when the involved subject attempted to strike the officer with his vehicle. The officer then discharged his weapon, striking the subject causing non-life-threatening injuries. The involved officer did not receive any serious physical injuries. This information is preliminary and subject to change.
MBI is assessing this incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
