Holly Springs and Tombigbee National Forests open house set

The National Forests in Mississippi is inviting the public to an open house from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28 to learn more about the Holly Springs and Tombigbee National Forests. The open house will be held at the Holly Springs District Office located at 1000 Front Street in Oxford.
“We look forward to meeting with members of the community and partners and sharing the great work on our forests as well as future plans for our forests,” said District Ranger C.J. Woodard.
Forest Service leaders will share a copy of their recent vision statement that includes management plans for the next five years and ecological condition maps that assess the current state of the forest. Topics at the meeting will include forest management, including timber management and prescribed burning, recreation, engineering, wildlife, and heritage.
The Holly Springs National Forest and the Tombigbee National Forest total 224,000 acres dispersed across 11 counties in northern Mississippi and are managed as one unit.
