After the deadline was extended, federal and state income tax payments must be paid this week in order to avoid paying penalties.
That date is quickly approaching for those who must pay in on their 2019 tax return.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Mississippi extended its tax filing deadline from April 15th to July 15th. The IRS also set this deadline for federal tax filings.
The Mississippi Department of Revenue says people may request an extension to file returns by Oct. 15. That is just to fill out the appropriate tax forms
The state says any taxes owed are still must be paid by Wednesday.
