Enhanced law enforcement presence announced for Ole Miss-LSU game weekend

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety announced an enhanced law enforcement presence in Oxford for the Ole Miss-LSU football game weekend, citing the expected number of visitors and the need to keep the game and surrounding events safe.

Commissioner Sean Tindell said the effort would focus on preparation, proactive enforcement and coordination among agencies. The partners include the University of Mississippi, the City of Oxford, Louisiana State Police and local law enforcement agencies.

The announcement referenced coordination with University Police, the Oxford Police Department and the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office. Officials encouraged visitors to plan ahead, be patient on roadways and help make the weekend safe and enjoyable.
