DRC closure announcements for March storms
June 30, 2025 – In coordination with County Leadership, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) will be closing three DRC’s permanently this week. The centers in Jefferson Davis, Leflore and Walthall counties will close down operations at the close of business on July 2nd, 2025. Survivors will continue to have access to applications through our online platforms and can visit recovery centers in other locations. Covington and Grenada counties will temporarily be closed July 4th and 5th in recognition of the 4th of July Holiday. They will reopen on July 7th.
MEMA continues to work with federal and local partners to help survivors of the March 14-15 storms and tornadoes with their recovery. As of June 30th, FEMA has given out more than $16 million in individual assistance to the 7,624 residents who have applied for federal aid. Affected households have also received more than $9.8 million in housing assistance. Applicants are reminded that even if you have insurance, you are still encouraged to apply—additional funds may be available.
Residents can also apply in personby visiting a Disaster Recovery Center at any of the following locations:
- Covington County
- Bobby Mooney Building, 1613 South Fir Avenue, Collins, MS 39428
- Grenada County
- The Ministry Center, 4461 Commerce Street, Grenada, MS 38901
Center hours are 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Saturday; closed on Sundays
Residents in the approved counties who sustained losses during the March 14-15 severe weather can apply for FEMA assistance by using the FEMA App, going online to DisasterAssistance.gov, or calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362.
