Congress Officially Passes $1.9 Trillion COVID-19 Relief Bill
After promises by Democrats to provide swift aid to Americans if they won majority in the Senate, they have delivered on that promise 48 days into President Joe Biden’s term with the passing of the “American Rescue Plan.”
By a margin of 220-211, the bill passed through the House of Representatives after passing by a margin of 50-49 in the Senate on Monday.
The bill includes $1,400 direct payments to most Americans, including to adult dependents. Also, federal unemployment benefits will be extended, schools will receive reopening funds, and vaccine distribution funds will be increased.
Biden has stated he will sign the bill into law officially on Friday when it reaches his desk.
