Massive Fire Destroys Abandoned Meridian Building

MERIDIAN – Firefighters responded late Wednesday night to a large blaze that engulfed an abandoned two-story building at the corner of 8th Street and 38th Avenue.

The fire was reported around 11:30 p.m. on August 13, 2025. Meridian Fire Chief Michael Evans said the structure, already scheduled for demolition, had partially collapsed by the time crews arrived.

Firefighters from Stations 1, 3, and 8, along with a ladder truck, worked to contain the flames and protect nearby buildings. Police, Metro Ambulance, and a fire investigator also responded.

No injuries have been reported, but it remains unclear if anyone was inside at the time. Investigators will search the site once it is safe.

Sections of 8th Street between 38th and 39th avenues remain closed, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
