Retired Marine Corps Col. Timothy “Ghannon” Burton, referred to as “The Colonel,” officially declared his candidacy for the United States Senate on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

A TOPGUN fighter pilot and Mississippi native, Col. Burton has returned to his roots to fight for a better future for his home state and the entire nation.

According to a news release, Burton brings a deep understanding of the values and concerns of the people he aims to represent. Using a tagline, “We can do better,” Burton said his campaign is marked by a dedication to conservative principles, a focus on unity, and a promise to prioritize the well-being of the American people.

“I am honored to return to the state that shaped me and fight for the people who have always been my community. Mississippi and America can do better, and I am here to lead that charge,” Burton said.

Burton’s campaign said he will work to secure the nation’s borders, addressing immigration issues while prioritizing the safety and well-being of American citizens. Burton is committed to implementing policies that will curb inflation and ensure a stable and prosperous economy.  Burton understands the importance of a strong and well-equipped military. His commitment is to restore and strengthen the nation’s defense capabilities. Burton also aims to put an end to what he perceives as the weaponization of government, ensuring that governmental power is used responsibly and in the best interests of the American people.

Burton joins incumbent U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker and state Rep. Dan Eubanks (R-Walls) as announced candidates for the Republican nomination to Wicker’s Senate seat in the March primary.
