Daily Mississippian Editorial Board endorses Presley

The Daily Mississippian, the University of Mississippi Student Newspaper’s Editorial Board, has endorsed Brandon Presley for governor of Mississippi, stating that Presley “has the tools, capabilities and drive to change Mississippi for the better.”

The endorsement highlights how Presley will address the issues on the hearts and minds of all Mississippians from expanding Medicaid to fully funding public education.

The editorial board also takes Gov. Tate Reeves to task for failing to expand Medicaid, noting that “Reeves has taken marginal steps to mitigate Mississippi’s healthcare crisis,” and includes Medicaid expansion as a key distinction of Presley’s platform, stating that “Presley’s campaign, however, promises to take more impactful and tangible action to mitigate the Mississippi’s health crisis.”
