Vicksburg Warren School District closes all schools, offices Tuesday
Vicksburg Warren School District said it will close all schools and district offices Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, because of widespread power outages, unsafe road conditions and transportation concerns.
The district said several campuses are without power, including Vicksburg High School, Vicksburg Junior High School, Warren Central High School, Beechwood Elementary School, RCEC, Bowmar Elementary School, Dana Road Elementary School and Vicksburg Intermediate School.
The district said many students also remain without power at home and that several roads are not passable for safe student transportation. District officials said they are assessing conditions across all campuses and working closely with utility providers and local officials.
While some schools currently have power — including Redwood Elementary School, Sherman Avenue Elementary School, Warrenton Elementary School and South Park Elementary School — the district said the decision to close all schools and offices was made in the interest of student safety and operational consistency. A decision about operations for Wednesday will be made by 5 p.m. Tuesday and shared through official district communication channels.
