Tunica man charged after deputies find meth during Verona traffic stop

VERONA, Miss. — A Tunica man was charged Sunday after deputies said they found methamphetamine during a traffic stop in the Verona area on March 8.

Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Department conducted the stop and identified the driver as Sherrodrick M. Taylor, 31, of Tunica, authorities said. During the encounter, deputies determined Taylor was in possession of methamphetamine and took him into custody, the department said.

Taylor was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine). A judge with the Lee County Justice Court set Taylor’s bond at $10,000, court records show.

Schedule II controlled substances — which include methamphetamine and certain opioids — are classified under state and federal law as having a high potential for abuse and are treated as serious offenses. Authorities did not release additional details about the circumstances of the traffic stop.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
