Three arrested after joint narcotics operation in Forrest, Lamar counties
FORREST COUNTY, Mississippi — Three people were arrested Tuesday after a joint narcotics operation by the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office led to the seizure of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and multiple firearms, authorities said.
Investigators executed search warrants Feb. 17 at two locations in Forrest County: the 2600 block of Oak Grove Road and the 700 block of Duane Street, the sheriff’s offices said. During the searches, agents recovered about 10 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, 18 pounds of suspected marijuana and 12 firearms, authorities said.
Officials said the suspects are believed to have been involved in drug activity that impacted both Forrest and Lamar counties. Those arrested were identified as Lorenzo Price, charged with aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine; Dorothy Jackson, charged with trafficking of marijuana while in possession of a firearm; and Jalavion Haynes, charged with possession with intent to distribute ecstasy while in possession of a firearm.
Authorities said the seized items will be submitted to the Mississippi Crime Laboratory for testing and analysis and that the investigation remains ongoing. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
