Teen charged after 16-year-old dies in Kosciusko stabbing

A 16-year-old Kosciusko girl died after a stabbing Monday afternoon on Lucas Street, Attala County Coroner Sam Bell identified the victim as Nina Dillon, Breezy News said.

Dillon was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Attala, where she was later pronounced dead, Breezy News said. The outlet reported the stabbing occurred during a fight involving Dillon and a 15-year-old identified as Ta’khia Fletcher on Lucas Street.

Breezy News said Fletcher was charged with murder and was being held without bond at the Leake County Correctional Facility. The report did not provide details about any ongoing investigation or whether additional arrests have been made.

The death of a teenager in a small community underscores concerns about youth violence and public safety. Kosciusko is the county seat of Attala County in central Mississippi. Juvenile cases involving serious felonies can prompt different legal procedures depending on jurisdiction, including detention and potential transfer to adult court in some circumstances. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
