Oxford police post on Facebook

The Oxford Police Department posted a message on its official Facebook page, the department said in a brief social media post. The post appeared on the department’s public page; the department has not released further details through that channel.

The Oxford Police Department provides law enforcement, traffic enforcement and community policing for the city of Oxford in Lafayette County, Mississippi, which is home to the University of Mississippi. Local police agencies commonly use social media to share timely information with residents and visitors.

Police departments use Facebook and other platforms for a range of public safety communications, including traffic advisories, emergency alerts, requests for public assistance and community outreach. Social posts can reach residents quickly and prompt follow-up inquiries or tips from the public.

Residents seeking more information are encouraged to follow the department’s official Facebook page or contact the Oxford Police Department directly. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
