Oxford police post message on Facebook

The Oxford Police Department posted a message on its official Facebook page, according to the department’s social media post.

The post did not contain further information beyond the message itself. The department’s Facebook page is one of its primary channels for communicating with residents of Oxford, Mississippi, and the surrounding community.

Oxford is home to the University of Mississippi, and the Oxford Police Department serves as the city’s primary law enforcement agency, responding to public safety incidents, traffic concerns and community needs. Police departments across the country increasingly use social media to share timely updates, traffic advisories and safety information with residents.

Because the department’s post contained limited detail, residents and news consumers are advised to follow the Oxford Police Department’s official Facebook page or its other public channels for any updates. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
