Oxford Police offer free headlight cleanings Friday
Oxford Police will offer free headlight cleanings at the department Friday, Jan. 23, from 4-7 p.m. as part of its “Light Up the Night” safety event, the department said on Facebook. In the event of inclement weather, the post said a makeup date is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 6.
The department said the campaign is intended to help drivers “see (and be seen)” by improving headlight performance. Clouded or dirty headlight lenses and road grime can reduce light output and make vehicles harder to spot after dark, particularly during winter months when daylight is shorter.
Programs that clean or restore headlights are commonly used by law enforcement and safety groups to reduce road hazards and promote community engagement. The Oxford Police post invited residents to stop by the station during the scheduled hours to receive the free service and help make local streets safer.
