Gov. Tate Reeves announced during a public meeting that the Mississippi Outdoor Stewardship Trust Fund Board of Trustees approved 20 projects, the board’s fourth round of competitive grants since the trust’s inception in 2022.
The grants, awarded by the state board, are intended to support efforts to preserve Mississippi’s natural beauty for future generations, according to the announcement. Details on the individual projects or funding amounts were not released with the announcement.
The Mississippi Outdoor Stewardship Trust Fund was created to provide competitive grants for conservation and outdoor stewardship across the state. State trust funds of this type typically direct support toward land protection, habitat conservation and outdoor recreation, which can also benefit local economies through tourism and outdoor recreation opportunities.
