Hinds County lowers flags to honor State Rep. Bo Brown
Hinds County officials directed flags to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday to honor State Rep. Bo Brown, according to a Facebook post.
The post said, “State Representative Bo Brown spent his life serving his community and improving the lives of those around him.” It did not provide further details about the circumstances behind the tribute.
Hinds County, which includes Jackson, the capital of Mississippi, often orders flags lowered as an official sign of mourning or respect for public figures and community leaders. Lowering the flag to half-staff is a traditional gesture used by governments to mark significant loss or honor notable service.
State representatives draft and vote on state laws and provide constituent services, making their roles central to local governance and community advocacy. Officials and residents frequently issue public tributes when a longtime public servant is recognized for years of community work.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
