The Gulfport Police Department said on its Facebook page that officers visited Bayou View Elementary “this morning” to take part in Career Day, spending time with students and observing their curiosity and excitement.
The department said the visit reinforced the importance of investing in young people and building community relationships. The post included the hashtags #GulfportProud and #CommunityPolicing.
Career Day events typically bring professionals into schools so students can learn about different careers and ask questions. Police participation is often part of broader community policing efforts meant to build trust between law enforcement and residents from a young age.
