Gautier Police offer shelter assistance during severe winter weather
The Gautier Police Department urged residents to call 228-497-2486 if they or someone they know needs shelter or assistance during severe winter weather, the department said in a Facebook post.
Gautier is a city in Jackson County along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Local police departments often serve as a primary point of contact during emergencies, coordinating with municipal services, relief organizations and emergency management to help residents who lose power, heat or access to transportation.
Severe winter weather can create dangerous conditions, including freezing temperatures, icy roads and power outages that increase the risk of hypothermia and other cold-related illnesses. Officials encourage residents to check on elderly or vulnerable neighbors and to seek shelter or assistance if they face unsafe conditions at home.
Anyone who needs help is asked to call the Gautier Police Department at 228-497-2486. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
