Meridian, Mississippi, issues boil water advisory amid ongoing repairs

The city of Meridian, Mississippi, has issued a boil water notice for certain areas, officials announced Thursday. The alert remains in effect as city crews continue repairs and conduct water quality tests.

Public Works teams identified additional work needed in the affected areas over the past 24 hours. Repairs are ongoing, and the boil water notice will stay in place until testing confirms water safety. Residents may experience low water pressure in some locations, city officials said.

Authorities urge residents to follow safety precautions: bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute, allow it to cool before use, and use boiled or bottled water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and making ice. The advisory is precautionary and will stay in effect until further notice.

City officials promised to provide updates as new information becomes available. They thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the ongoing work aimed at protecting public health.
