Plantersville School lockdown lifted after juvenile detained on school bus

A 15-year-old juvenile was taken into custody after authorities received a report of a person with a weapon at a convenience store near Plantersville School, prompting a lockdown at the school, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were notified of the incident at approximately 7:26 a.m. on September 28, 2026. School Resource Officers learned the individual was believed to have boarded a school bus traveling to Belden Center.

School Resource Deputies located the individual on the bus and made contact with the juvenile, taking the person into custody on behalf of the Plantersville Police Department for further investigation. The juvenile was transported to the Lee County Detention Center.

No weapon was found on the juvenile or on the bus at the time of the arrest. After the juvenile was detained and law enforcement determined there was no ongoing threat to the school, the lockdown was lifted and school operations returned to normal.

The original incident at the convenience store remains under investigation by the Plantersville Police Department.
