Tupelo Community Theatre announces auditions for Eleemosynary

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Eleemosynary, an MTA Competition Show, at TCT Off Broadway, 213 E. Franklin St. Auditions are scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 8 or 6 p.m. Nov. 9. Callbacks will be held by invitation at 6 p.m. Nov. 12.

The production calls for three women: Dorothea, written for someone in her 50s; Artie, in her 30s; and Echo, in her teens. The listed age ranges can be altered.

Audition participants are asked to read the audition material and perform each selection in their age range, using body language, voice and emotions to create a full character.

The play follows three generations of women — Dorothea, an eccentric grandmother; Artie, a scientist and estranged mother; and Echo, a brilliant teenage daughter — as they face a complicated legacy of love, independence and abandonment. Their stories involve the choices that separated them and their effort to reconnect and break the cycle.

The MTA Competition show is scheduled to travel to Meridian from Jan. 15-18.
