The City of Meridian, Mississippi, extended wishes for a meaningful and peaceful Yom Kippur observance to Jewish families, friends and neighbors in the community.
The city said Jewish families have helped shape Meridian’s business, civic and cultural life for generations, adding that their history is part of the city’s history. It wished those observing the sacred day a time of reflection, prayer and peace.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
