Lafayette County sheriff’s office issues home and vehicle security reminder
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents to take basic steps to protect their homes and vehicles, including locking doors, securing windows and bringing vehicle keys and valuables inside.
The office also recommends turning on porch or motion-sensor lighting and reporting anything suspicious. It said most break-ins are crimes of opportunity and described a locked door as one of the best deterrents.
The sheriff’s office encouraged residents to look out for their neighbors and contact the office if something does not feel right.
