Biloxi police promote zipper merging in narrowed traffic

The Biloxi Police Department is promoting zipper merging as a way to help manage traffic when construction, crashes or other disruptions reduce a roadway to one lane.

The department advises drivers to use both lanes until the merge point, then take turns allowing vehicles into the remaining lane. It said drivers entering at the merge point are not necessarily trying to cut others off, but may be trying to get home.
