Mississippi breaks ground on International Paper facility
Gov. Tate Reeves posted on Facebook that Mississippi is breaking ground on a new 470,000-square-foot facility for International Paper, two months after announcing the company’s $225 million investment.
Reeves wrote on the social media post that “Exactly two months ago, we announced International Paper’s $225 million investment. Today, we’re breaking ground on their new 470,000-square-foot facility.” He added, “When great companies want to move fast and build big, they come to Mississippi.” The post did not provide additional operational details.
International Paper is a global manufacturer of paper and packaging products with operations across the United States and internationally. Large capital investments by manufacturers are commonly highlighted by state leaders as ways to stimulate local economies, expand industrial capacity and support supply chains, though the governor’s post did not specify expected job counts or timelines.
Details about the new facility’s construction schedule, employment impacts and financing were not included in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
