Man Arrested After Home Invasion Near Reservoir
Brandon, Miss. – A Rankin County man is facing multiple charges following a late-night home invasion and standoff near the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
According to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the Alpine Mobile Home Park just off Old Fannin Road at approximately 11:32 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, after reports of a possible home invasion.
Investigators said the homeowner was awakened by Charles Beretta Lovorn Jr. banging on her front door. When she refused to open it, Lovorn allegedly broke a window, unlocked the door, and entered the residence. A verbal altercation followed, and deputies say Lovorn began breaking items inside the home before retrieving a 9mm handgun and firing two rounds before fleeing.
While deputies interviewed the victim and processed the scene, a “be on the lookout” alert was issued for Lovorn and his vehicle.
At around 1:03 a.m., deputies located Lovorn’s vehicle at the Lakeshore Pointe Apartments north of Spillway Road. Law enforcement believed he was inside one of the units. When contacted, Lovorn allegedly refused to exit, prompting a short standoff.
