Blue Mountain Christian falls to Life University 61-57
Blue Mountain Christian University lost 61-57 to Life University on Thursday at Tyler Gymnasium in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, in a Southern States Athletic Conference game, the school said.
The teams traded baskets and momentum swings in a tightly contested game. Blue Mountain Christian pushed the pace early and used balanced scoring to stay close, but Life pulled ahead late and maintained a slim lead down the stretch.
Maddie Kirk led the Toppers with 17 points and seven rebounds, according to a Blue Mountain Christian athletics release. Rebecca Walter scored 13 points and pulled down six defensive rebounds. Off the bench, McKenzie Williams added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Isabella Carlson had six points and four assists.
Blue Mountain Christian shot 45.3 percent from the field and made 85.7 percent of its free throws, the release said. A late push trimmed the margin, but Life University converted key free throws and defensive stops to secure the victory.
Blue Mountain Christian will travel to Nashville to face Welch College on Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
