Facebook shows content unavailable message

Facebook displays the message “This content isn’t available right now” when a user tries to view a post that is no longer visible to them. The platform lists several common reasons: the owner shared the content with a small group, changed who can see it or deleted it.

The notice appears in place of the original post and prevents users from viewing images, videos or comments that were previously accessible. It can also show up if a link points to material that has been removed or if account settings prevent access.

Facebook, owned by Meta Platforms Inc., provides privacy controls that let people limit audiences for individual posts or entire accounts. Those controls, along with routine content moderation and user deletions, can lead to missing content and broken links across the site.

The message matters to people who rely on social posts for news, research or personal records, because it can hinder verification and follow-up. Users who encounter it may need to check their login status, contact the post owner or review privacy settings.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
