Toppers fall to Mobile at SSAC Roundup
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Blue Mountain Christian University men’s tennis team fell 6-1 to the University of Mobile Rams at the SSAC Roundup on Friday, the school reported.
The Toppers earned their lone point in singles when Adriaan Engelbrecht won after his opponent was forced to retire. Blue Mountain also picked up a doubles victory when Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé defeated their opponents 6-2 on court three, the report said.
Other doubles matches were closely contested. Engelbrecht and Luis Lainer dropped a top-court match 6-4, and Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins lost 6-4 on court two. In singles, Cruz fell 6-3, 6-4; Blevins lost 6-1, 6-2; Maj Langerholz also lost 6-1, 6-2; Kotzé pushed his match to a tiebreaker before falling; and Lainer lost 6-3, 6-4, according to the university.
Blue Mountain will continue SSAC Roundup play as it seeks experience against conference competition. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
