Toppers fall to Freed-Hardeman despite strong singles play
Jackson, Tenn. — Blue Mountain Christian University’s men’s tennis team dropped a nonconference match to Freed-Hardeman while producing several strong individual performances, the school reported.
In doubles play, Adriaan Engelbrecht and Luis Lainer lost a close match at No. 1, 6-4, and Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins fell 6-3. Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé provided a bright spot with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles to give the Toppers momentum heading into singles.
Engelbrecht continued his strong day in singles, earning a straight-set win, 6-3, 6-4. Kotzé added a point with a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Cruz played one of the tightest matches, dropping a tiebreak 10-8. Teammates Luis Langerholz, Shiraam Anbanantan and Rogers also competed hard against a tough Freed-Hardeman lineup, the school said.
