Toppers fall short at Loyola
New Orleans — Blue Mountain Christian (BMCU) fell to Loyola 72-65 on Thursday in a tightly contested Southern States Athletic Conference game, the teams trading momentum in a physical matchup that remained close throughout.
The Toppers matched Loyola’s intensity from the opening tip and repeatedly responded to early pressure, keeping the game within reach through the middle stretches. Momentum shifted back and forth as both teams battled on the boards and defended aggressively.
McKenzie Williams paced the Toppers offensively while making an impact on the glass. Kathryn Echols provided steady play and consistent production in the backcourt, Maddie Kirk delivered an all-around effort on both ends, and Isabella Carlson directed the offense and helped generate quality looks against a disciplined Loyola defense.
Blue Mountain Christian will close its regular season at William Carey on Saturday, Feb. 21, with tipoff scheduled for 12:00 p.m. The Southern States Athletic Conference is an NAIA league comprising colleges in the southeastern United States. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
