Toppers fall 7-0 to No. 6 William Carey at SSAC Roundup
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Blue Mountain Christian University wrapped up play at the SSAC Roundup in Montgomery, falling 7-0 to William Carey, which is tied for No. 6 in the latest NAIA men’s tennis coaches poll, Blue Mountain said.
The Toppers faced a strong William Carey squad and gained experience against nationally ranked competition as conference play approaches.
In doubles, Adriaan Englebrecht and Luis Lainer lost 1-6 on the No. 1 court. Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins dropped a 3-6 decision on the No. 2 court, and Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé fell 0-6 on the No. 3 court, the school reported.
In singles action, Englebrecht was defeated 2-6, 3-6 on the top court. Blevins lost 0-6, 1-6; Rogers fell 0-6, 0-6; Kotzé lost 0-6, 0-6; Lainer dropped 2-6, 0-6; and Juan Daniel Aravelo finished with a 0-6, 0-6 result, according to Blue Mountain.
Blue Mountain, an NAIA program in the Southern States Athletic Conference, concluded SSAC Roundup play and will turn its attention to the remainder of its conference schedule.
