Toppers fall 0-7 to No. 5 William Carey at SSAC Roundup
Blue Mountain Christian Universitys women’s tennis team concluded play at the SSAC Roundup in Montgomery, Alabama, on Saturday with a 0-7 loss to No. 5 William Carey, the school said.
In doubles, the pairing of Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos played on the No. 1 court and lost 1-6. Lina Cetina and Lucia Garcia fell 2-6 on the No. 2 court, while Nami Malyaporn and Kiersten Terris were defeated 2-6, according to Blue Mountain.
In singles action, Mordiz lost 0-6, 0-6 on the top court. Cetina dropped her match 2-6, 1-6; Garcia fell 0-6, 0-6; Malyaporn lost 3-6, 1-6; Ramos was defeated 0-6, 1-6; and Terris finished with a 0-6, 1-6 decision, the school reported.
William Carey entered the match ranked No. 5 in the NAIA Women’s Tennis Coaches Poll. Blue Mountain, a member of the Southern States Athletic Conference, said the Toppers gained experience facing one of the nation’s top NAIA programs and will resume conference play this season.
