Toppers depth shines in sweep at Crowleys Ridge
Paragould, Ark. — Blue Mountain Christian University used depth and timely power to sweep a doubleheader at Crowley’s Ridge College on Thursday, improving to 17-0, the school said.
In the opener the Toppers struck early when Karen Wisher hit a grand slam in the first inning. Blue Mountain Christian scored 11 runs on 11 hits, with Anna Harrison, Aspen Teague, Mikaylah Fuqua and Kelsey Camp providing key run-producing at-bats and baserunning that extended innings.
Madison Montgomery worked five innings in the circle, allowing three hits and striking out seven as Crowley’s Ridge managed two runs. In the nightcap Blue Mountain Christian scored in each of the first two innings and broke the game open in the middle frames for a 9-1 victory.
Kelsey Camp and Bre Ramsey each homered in the second game, and Wisher added a two-run double. Bri Langley allowed one run on five hits across five innings. The Toppers outscored their opponent 20-3 on the day, combining power at the plate with steady pitching and defense.
The school said the 17-0 start is the best in program history, highlighting contributions across the lineup. According to the team schedule, Blue Mountain Christian is slated to continue its season at Crowley’s Ridge College on Feb. 26. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
