Garcia earns SSAC women’s tennis player of week after dominant season debut
Blue Mountain Christian sophomore Lucia Rodriguez Garcia was named Southern States Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week after a dominant season-opening performance against Millsaps College in Montgomery, Alabama.
Blue Mountain Christian said Garcia set the tone early in doubles play, teaming with Lina Cetina for a 6-2 victory. The school said the pair controlled the match from the baseline, applying steady pressure to give the Toppers an early edge.
In singles, the Santa Irene, Spain, native delivered a flawless outing, posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory without dropping a game. The sweep highlighted Garcia’s consistency, precision and composure and immediately positioned her as a key contributor for Blue Mountain Christian this spring.
Blue Mountain Christian competes in the Southern States Athletic Conference, a NAIA conference in the southeastern United States. The conference recognition gives the Toppers early momentum as the season begins. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
