SFOF recognizes Mississippi auditor for uncovering $400 million in waste
JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi State Auditor Shad White was recognized by the State Financial Officers Foundation for identifying more than $400 million in waste across state government, the foundation said in its inaugural 2025 Oversight Report.
The report singles out White’s “MOGE” report, a compilation of audits by the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor that the foundation said identified the waste. The Oversight Report also highlighted White’s work identifying nonprofits that it said wasted taxpayer money.
“It’s an honor to be named among the State Auditors fighting the rampant fraud, waste, and abuse in government,” State Auditor Shad White said. “From Vice President Vance’s leadership on the anti-fraud task force to state-level officers, fraud now has nowhere to hide.”
“Auditor White’s work reflects the vital role of an independent auditor in safeguarding public resources, promoting accountability, and ensuring that every dollar entrusted to government serves its intended purpose,” the Oversight Report said. The report highlights accomplishments from 40 financial officers in 28 states that oversee more than $3 trillion in state funds. The full report is available online.
