Man charged with assaulting officers at Texas Roadhouse in Tupelo
Tupelo police have arrested a man accused of assaulting officers during a disturbance at Texas Roadhouse on North Gloster Street.
On Dec. 23, officers responded to the restaurant after reports of a disturbance. They arrived to find the suspect in the parking lot and attempted to speak with him. The man became irate and refused to exit his vehicle when asked. When officers forcibly removed him, he bit one officer and struck another multiple times, police said.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Davanta R. Randle of Prairie, was taken into custody and booked into Lee County Jail on multiple charges. A day later, on Dec. 24, authorities charged Randle with two counts of assaulting a law enforcement officer, according to court records.
Judge Allen of Tupelo Municipal Court set Randle’s bond at $100,000. The case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury, police said.
