Vicksburg police update on two shooting incidents from January 13

Vicksburg police provided details Thursday on two shooting incidents that occurred Tuesday, Jan. 13. The first incident happened around 2:10 p.m. in the 2900 block of Washington Street, where a drive-by shooting left one person injured. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Four individuals were arrested Wednesday in connection with that shooting: Jayden Elmore, 18; Jacques Galloway, 23; Lavondre Gailmore, 21; and Arkeem Banks, 18. Later that evening, at approximately 6:48 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Cherry Street. A 16-year-old victim was taken to the hospital by personal vehicle and is listed in stable condition.

Additionally, Sedrick Lewis, 40, turned himself in to police Wednesday. Both incidents remain under investigation, and authorities said they will release more information as it becomes available. This is a developing story as law enforcement continues to work to address community safety.
