Trump approves FEMA individual assistance for 36 Mississippi counties
President Donald Trump approved Individual Assistance (FEMA-4899 DR-MS) for 36 Mississippi counties and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians for severe winter weather that struck Jan. 23-27, according to a Facebook post announcing the action.
The counties approved for individual assistance are Adams, Alcorn, Attala, Benton, Bolivar, Calhoun, Carroll, Claiborne, Coahoma, Desoto, Grenada, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lee, Leflore, Marshall, Montgomery, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Sharkey, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Tunica, Union, Warren, Washington, Yalobusha and Yazoo, as well as the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
Individuals in the designated areas who sustained losses during the Jan. 23-27 storm will be eligible to apply for assistance. Individual assistance can include grants for home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.
Residents in the approved counties may register for federal assistance online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY).
