Reeves updates response to severe winter weather in Mississippi
JACKSON, Miss. — Gov. Tate Reeves on Jan. 27 said the state is continuing to work with county, state, federal and private sector partners to respond to severe winter weather affecting Mississippi, according to a statement posted by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.
The agency coordinates emergency response and support across the state and often works with federal partners during large-scale events. Severe winter storms can create hazardous travel conditions, widespread power outages and other public-safety risks that require coordinated action from multiple agencies.
The post said two additional deaths have been reported in connection with the winter weather. It did not provide further details on the locations or circumstances of those fatalities.
State officials are continuing to monitor conditions and coordinate response and recovery efforts with local and federal counterparts, the agency said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
