Firefighters responded to a gas leak near 401 North Gloster Street, where company teams are working to repair a damaged pipeline, according to the Tallahassee Fire Department.
The leak is between Leake Street and Blair Street. Due to wind conditions, some homes and businesses in the Blair and Allen Street areas were advised to evacuate or stay indoors, TFD said.
The leak involves a main service line, and repairs are expected to take several hours. Once the leak is sealed, residents will be allowed to return home.
TFD remains on scene to monitor the situation and ensure public safety, the department added.
