Officer-involved shooting in Monroe County under investigation
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office that occurred on April 29.
Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance.
Deputies encountered the subject who presented a knife at the deputies at the scene. The deputies then discharged their firearms striking the subject, who has been transported to a local hospital. The deputies did not receive any serious physical injury.
MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence.
