Reeves sets special elections


Jan. 3, 2025- Gov. Tate Reeves has announced that he has set six special elections. Two of the special elections are for the Mississippi House of Representatives, three are for trial courts, and one is for district attorney.

The two special elections for House District 23 (Calhoun, Lafayette, Pontotoc, Webster Counties) and for House District 82 (Lauderdale County) will be held on March 25. The qualifying deadline for these elections is Feb. 3.

The three special elections for trial courts will be held in the Sixth Chancery District, Place 1 (Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Kemper, Neshoba, Winston Counties), Twelfth Chancery District, Place 1 (Clarke and Lauderdale Counties), and Twelfth Circuit District, Place 2 (Forrest and Perry Counties) on Nov. 4. The qualifying deadline for these elections is Feb. 3.

Finally, the special election for district attorney will be held in the First Circuit Court District (Alcorn, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tishomingo Counties) Nov. 4. The qualifying deadline for this election is Sept. 5.

Reeves also announced that he has set a special election for the Office of County Court Judge for Pearl River County.
