Officer-involved shooting in Lincoln County

Easter morning turned tragic in Lincoln County and authorities are now investigating an officer-involved shooting.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) reports that it is investigating a shooting that took place around 10:30 a.m. near the  intersection of Horseshoe Road and state Highway 550.  

A Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy was parked on the side of state Highway 550 when a subject approached  his vehicle with a weapon in his hand. The subject did receive fatal injuries and no officers were  injured.  

MBI is currently assessing the incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the  investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
