New Year holiday travel period
Dec 30, 2024-The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) will ramp up enforcement efforts in anticipation of the New Year’s Holiday Travel Period, which is set to start on Dec. 31 at 6 a.m. and conclude on Jan.1 at 12 midnight. Troopers will utilize high-visibility patrols and safety checkpoints to encourage safe driving techniques and the use of occupant restraint systems.
“As we approach the New Year’s holiday, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and first responders across Mississippi are committed to ensuring the safety of everyone traveling on our roadways,” said Sean Tindell, Commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. “We urge all Mississippians to celebrate responsibly by wearing seat belts, obeying traffic laws, and never driving under the influence. Let’s work together to make this a safe and joyous start to the New Year for everyone.”
