Mississippi Secretary of State Warns of Third-Party Voter Registration Mailers

Jackson, Miss. — August 18, 2025 — Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson has issued a warning to residents regarding third-party voter registration mailers expected to arrive in mailboxes this week.

The Voter Participation Center, a private organization, is sending out mailers claiming that someone at a specific address may not be registered to vote. The notices urge recipients to complete and submit voter registration forms.

Watson clarified that these mailers are not official correspondence from the Secretary of State’s Office or county circuit clerks.

“This is not official correspondence from the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office or county Circuit Clerks and is not an indication of a change in anyone’s voter registration status,” Watson said.

He also cautioned residents that responding to these mailers could put their personal information at risk.

What Residents Should Do

Mississippians who have questions about their voter registration status should:

  • Contact their county circuit clerk, or
  • Visit the official election website: YallVote.ms

State officials emphasized that the safest way to manage voter registration is through official government channels.
