May 14, 2025 – The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Hattiesburg Police Department that occurred on Timothy Drive.
Officers responded to a call for service regarding a suspicious person. Upon arrival, the subject displayed a firearm, resulting in an exchange of gunfire between the subject and law enforcement officers. The subject sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. No officers were injured during the encounter.
MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office. This information is preliminary and subject to change.
