Insurance Department seeks comments on proposed mitigation regulation
Sep 15, 2024 – The Mississippi Insurance Department (MID) has filed a proposed regulation to establish “Strengthen Mississippi Homes,” a program within the Mississippi Insurance Department and part of the Mississippi Comprehensive Hurricane Mitigation Program.
This program will issue financial grants to single-family, site-built, owner-occupied, residential property owners for the retrofitting of their properties to make them less vulnerable to hurricane damage and also eligible for insurance premium discounts.
The public is encouraged to submit written comments regarding Proposed Regulation Title 19, Part 5, Chapter 7: Strengthen Mississippi Homes Program. These comments will be accepted through 4:00 p.m., Monday, October 14, 2024, and may be sent to the following email address: kim.causey@mid.ms.gov
Once adopted, this regulation will be in effect on and after Jan. 1, 2025.
